Cheers to 25 Years with Andy Shepard!
Andy Shepherd - Upper School Science and STEAM Teacher, and co-coach of the Science Olympiad team with Jennifer Devlin.
Role you were hired for, and any other roles over the years?
I was hired for pretty much the same roles as I am doing today. During my time here, I was the Science Department Chair for a number of years where I implemented the switch to teaching physics in the 9th grade and biology in the 11th grade. They were reversed before then. I have been the advisor of many clubs, and I have been on many committees, including the professional development group, upper school head search, and others that I don’t remember.
What did you do/where did you work before Shipley?
Before Shipley, I taught at Chestnut Hill Academy, Moorestown Friends School, and the Woodhall School in CT.
Most memorable teaching moment at Shipley?
It would be impossible to state my most memorable teaching moment at Shipley. There are many. However, the most exciting experience for me was the trip that I took to the Galapagos Islands with students in 2019. It was magical in many ways.
What has kept you here so long?
I keep coming back to Shipley because of the wonderful students, faculty, and staff. I am constantly reminded of the good things we do here, and I am proud to work here. I have made many friends over the years.
