• Q. What is an alumni affinity group?

  Affinity groups exist to connect and engage Shipley alumni with the School, other alumni, and students around common interests, identity, and experiences in a supportive and inclusive environment.

• Q. What does LGBTQIA+ stand for?

  LGBTQIA+ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual with the + added in recognition of all non-straight, non-cisgender identities.

• Q. Why is it important to acknowledge LGBTQIA+ identities for students?

  Sexual orientation and gender are important aspects of a young person’s identity. Expressing and exploring gender identity and roles is also a part of normal development.
