Shipley’s fine arts program promotes mastery of technique and encourages students to understand art on multiple levels. Our curriculum builds sequentially from Pre-K through 12th grade.

In art, students explore a wide variety of media. As they develop techniques, they gain important perceptual and analytical skills and find a healthy balance between rigorous proficiency and self-expression.

Shipley students from Pre-K through 9th grade take art class twice a week. After 9th grade, art is an elective. More than one-third of 10th- through 12th-grade students continue with art as a major course.
