On February 25-26, Shipley's Upper School Boys' and Girls' Varsity Squash teams traveled to the National Squash Center in Philadelphia to compete with over 1,700 student-athletes in the 2023 High School National Squash Championships.
The Girls' Varsity team had a lot of close matches throughout the three days of competition, showing a big improvement from the start of the season. Their closest match of the weekend came against Westport Staples, where they lost a close match 4-3. They showed fearless effort, courage, and resilience throughout the matches and finished in 16th place in Division 4, which is 64th in the country.
The Boys' Varsity team had a great journey to the final. They beat Germantown Friends School, whom they lost to during regular league play, and went on to beat The Hackley School in a nail-biting thriller in the semi-final. The boys worked hard and played great squash, but lost a tight 4-3 match to take 2nd place in Division 3 and finish 34th in the country.
Congratulations to all the students on an amazing season and a fantastic tournament!
