Who was your most influential teacher and why?
My most influential teacher at Shipley was probably Mrs. Weitzel from Kindergarten. She always pointed out the good that I was doing, and it encouraged me to continue what I was doing. She taught me to be kind, to have a big heart, and to help those who need it.
What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was probably Prohibition to Pop because we were constantly doing new things and it never felt like a repetitive class. Mr. Amidon kept it fun and always opened up the room to let us share our thoughts and opinions on history and current events.
What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
I would have to say that one of my most memorable experiences at Shipley was winning the Field Hockey FSL Championship in 2022. I had to push myself, but in the end, it was all worth it and I am so happy to have been on the Field Hockey Team.
What does Courage for the Deed; Grace for the Doing mean to you?
It means taking risks and trying new things but doing it with pride and confidence. It means that it is okay to not get it right on the first try but then to come back stronger the second time with more knowledge.

How did Shipley prepare you to be your best self and do your best work?
Shipley prepared me to be my best self by being kind to others and always having a positive mindset. I know that not everything will always go to plan, but Shipley taught me ways to cope and manage when things like that happen. I gained skills that will help me academically and socially in so many different ways. I know that I will always put my best foot forward in the future because of Shipley.
How did Shipley encourage you to take risks?
Shipley encouraged me to take risks in so many different aspects. Whether in the classroom or on the sports field, I know that even if I do not get it right the first time, I can always try again. Shipley helped me feel more confident in so many different aspects and I know I will carry that on through college and after.
Please write a short reflection on your time at Shipley and what it has meant to you.
My time at Shipley has meant so many different things. First, it has meant the world to me that I have had the opportunity to attend such an incredible school where I have made so many friends and met so many talented people. I am confident I will hold onto these friendships and connections for a long time. I looked forward to coming to school each day because of the teachers and people who made up this school. I know that I will be well prepared for the future because of Shipley. My time at Shipley has been filled with so many lessons and memories, ones that I still remember from Pre-K. I have had a lot of firsts at this school, and I know I will have many more to come in the future, but I know I will feel just a bit more prepared because of Shipley. I cannot thank the teachers, faculty, and peers enough for everything they have done for me here. They always put a smile on my face, which I believe is so incredibly important in a school.
