Upper School Students Win Carnegie Mellon Coding Competition

Congratulations to Aarik ’28 and Rohail ’26 for their creativity and award-winning excellence in the CMU CS Academy Fall 2024 Creative Task Competition hosted by Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science. 

Students from Dr. Roberta Brandao’s Computer Science – Python class submitted a variety of projects, ranging from fun games to functional programs, as part of this competition’s Complex Conditionals and More Key Events category.  Aarik, a standout freshman coder, won First Place for developing a program that functions similarly to Paint. View his PyPaint project. Rohail, an experienced junior, won Second Place for his stamp tool, featuring functional buttons and different color paint stamps for document design. Problem-solving and iteration are key to writing successful code. Through collaboration, this class refined their programs, leading to award-winning results.
