Ciela joined the Shipley community in ninth grade from Saint Marys Interparochial School
Activities and Positions: Girl's Soccer (JV Captain), Admissions Ambassadors, Shipley TV (Head Producer), Events Planning Committee, Stage Crew, and Model UN.
Favorite Club: Shipley TV. I really enjoy watching what we brainstorm come to life through organizing shooting times or editing, so we have each episode out every month.
Favorite Class: My favorite class at Shipley would probably be Mr. Amidon's History (Prohibition to Pop) class. Personally, I've never been a "history person" but due to the teacher and the content we learned, I absolutely loved taking this class. It took me by surprise because I've always enjoyed more STEM-like classes, but Mr. Amidon's enthusiasm and genuine interest in the topic made the class one of my favorites.
Best Thing about Shipley: When I think of Shipley, I think of balance and community. The students are focused on their academics and/or athletics, while also being extremely welcoming and kind to new students, such as myself. One of the best things I experienced at Shipley was the students on my first day. I recall feeling so welcomed into the community, regardless of where I was from and how nervous I was. Shipley made the switch from middle school to high school practically seamless and super easy.
What is one piece of advice that you would share with new students? One piece of advice I would share with new students is to get involved in sports, activities, and clubs, as it is the easiest way to make new friends. Specifically being involved in fall sports during preseason helps to get to know people before you even start school.
