This summer, the the Shipley Boys and Girls Soccer teams embarked on an incredible 10-day journey to the UK. Traveling across the country, they explored Manchester, London, Bolton, and Reading, taking part in various exciting activities. They had the privilege of participating in two top-tier training sessions with the Bolton Wanderers Academy and Reading Football Club, regardless of the sometimes tough UK weather. The teams played in three friendly matches against local teams, followed by shared laughter and lunches as they discussed life across the pond. A standout experience was visiting the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City. The team received a warm welcome, enjoyed an unforgettable tour, stepped into the shoes of professional athletes, and even engaged in a mock press conference! At St George's Park National Football Centre, a world-class training facility for England's National football team, they had a taste of elite practice sessions. They got to experience the exhilaration of a Premier League match - Man City vs Burnley. Exploring the historic streets of London, they captured memories with the iconic Big Ben. And the team even embraced iambic pentameter, visiting the House of Shakespeare for a touch of literary charm. After an incredible visit, our soccer teams are now back home safe and eagerly gearing up for the Fall Season!
