GOAL 1: EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Enrich our program to further strengthen each of our students’ ability to engage and lead in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
We are a community of learners committed to educational excellence. We explored what that means in 2016 and challenged ourselves to think about what it will mean in 2026. Our commitment to creating and supporting compelling opportunities to learn and share as individuals and as members of a community will continue. Shipley is a center for inspired learning and knowledge sharing for all members of the Shipley community and will continue to challenge the traditional borders of buildings, time, age, grade, and coursework.
Implementing our bold vision will require leadership and resources. We need to constantly recommit to academic innovation and educational excellence. Yet never has the need been greater to educate students, and develop people, who will be prepared to lead courageously. We will continue to balance academic rigor with support, preparing our students for college and beyond. We know that Shipley’s unique commitment to integrating the development of social, emotional and ethical skills into our curriculum, PreK through grade 12, is critical to success in college and in life. Our students learn to know themselves and others, to be compassionate members of their communities, and to create and collaborate. Our goal is to extend and deepen our commitment as we prepare students to live a life of purpose.
STRATEGIES
Advance our curriculum to further develop each student’s capacity to think critically and globally, work in partnership with others, and take a leadership role in generating solutions to real world challenges.
Re-envision ideas of where we learn, when we learn, and whom we learn with and from, in order to provide a world class program where students can create and pursue an individual and balanced path to success.
Advance our position as a recognized leader in social, emotional, and ethical development so each of our students continues to be uniquely prepared for success in college and in life.
Cultivate a diverse and inclusive community where all members learn from, through, and about each other, increasing our ability to work across differences in our school, in our communities, and in the world.
Recruit, develop, and sustain outstanding educators and leaders so that all members of our community of learners grow as individuals, strive for excellence, and have the opportunity to do their best work.
