GOAL 2: EDUCATION
Create immediate and longer-term School-wide initiatives regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion at Shipley. Prepare students to be leaders in a global society. Commit to sustaining a vibrant, inclusive, and caring multicultural community.
STRATEGIES
2.1 Expand the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to ensure achievement of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategic Plan.
2.2 Conduct a full audit and review of the School’s curriculum to better include anti-racism and culturally-sustaining curricula for all students and grade levels.
2.3 Require annual diversity, equity, and inclusion training for all Shipley colleagues.
2.4 Review and update the current Advisory and SEED curricula across all grade levels to include an established scope and sequence programming regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.
2.5 Establish partnership with families to collaborate on the best ways to expand diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond the classroom.
2.6 Increase the Board of Trustees’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
2.7 Provide and require professional development and create opportunities for teaching colleagues to analyze and evaluate curriculum through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
2.8 Continue to organize divisional and school-wide program events to celebrate all aspects of school culture, including, but not limited to: races, colors, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, genders, religions, nationalities, and socioeconomic statuses.
